Autumn beauty is everywhere around our neck of the woods. Stuff is dying like crazy. Beautiful fall leaves changing color are dying leaves. Most of the worker bees have been chased out of the nest and are gone even though there are still a few flowers blooming. That will end this week as temperatures will finally fall below freezing.
There is tension because this is a favorite time of the year, but winter is coming.
The air is crisp, clear, there’s nary a bug to slap and it’s time to take a moment or several and drink in some beauty before the snow comes. Now is the time to shoot some photos and marvel at natures colors, textures, shapes and smells. I took a walk around our place today just to share a few shots with you from northwest Wisconsin USA. just click on a picture and the slide show will come up. Complete with an October sunset.
Are you ready for winter? Me neither. I want to revel in the full pomp and circumstance of Autumn. Fall may just be the most imperfect time of the year. In the spring everything sprouts and buds almost perfectly. Age, sun and storms have taken their toll and yet in a metamorphosis of color their last hurrah is a repainting of the landscape in an explosion of color. Then they fall to the ground.
I said to a friend the other day after discussing 100 reasons why we love this time of year “You know..we are in the fall season of life you and I” He said quietly “yes we are and I aim to make the most of it”

And that friends is why I get up early in the morning, make some coffee, read from my Bible and pray. I have done this much of my life. I meet with God and he is there. Winter is coming all too soon in my life. I know old age is harder, it already is. I’m not ready..sigh…I’m still a worker bee. When my color fades and winter is over I will be ready for eternity.
Gary
(Header picture) Hey you like our spider? That little guy has slim pickins for bugs. The bee (two feet away) is bigger than he is so little spider may go hungry.
I do appreciate your considerate thoughts and comments.
Your pics are wonderful, I was inspired to change my header to something more Autumn appropriate! We don’t get quite as much color change around here as yall do up north, I always love seeing everyone else’s colorful photos. Thanks for sharing!

The pictures are beautiful. Very few trees here do that. We have evergreens and seldom gets below freezing but we love when it does. I am in the winter of life and am looking forward to the Spring of Heaven. Love in Chris.:)

Thanks so much. I do love the evergreens. I only have to travel a couple miles to find an evergreen forest. Mixed with red and yellow maples it’s quite beautiful.
Looking forward to the Spring of heaven…A great way to put it.

Thank you for sharing these, Gary. We will not see these beautiful colors in the Southeast this season because of the drought. Praise the Lord, He keeps His colors and His fruit in our lives regardless of the weather. Blessings in your winter dormancy. 🙂

Thanks Frances, I have heard about your drought. It’s too bad we can’t share the moisture. I believe we got over 6″ in the last 10 days.

Thanks so much. I fear it will only last a couple of days when it’s supposed to get below freezing with freezing rain and a snow storm. Then we will have bare trees with no leaves.

Thank You Sir. Definitely kindred hearts. Should we ever cross paths (aside from word press) there should be a boat nearby for some quality time together. You know, the iron sharpens iron thing.

Your photographs are beautiful! 🙂 You portray the process of growing older in a wonderful way. We are called to be worker bees for as long as we can. With age, our work may change, but always we are growing ever nearer to the vision God designed for our being from the beginning. Think of the arc angels that children create in the snow; in that winter of our lives, we too become closer to the image meant for us to be. Our souls expand as we age; our bodies may weaken and die, but the soul is with God forevermore.

You are so right Linda, and thank you for the compliment on the fall photos. The Lord put so much beauty and uniqueness into each season in nature as well as into our lives.

Every season offers new things. That is why I love the bible verse from Revelation 21:5: “Behold, I make all things new.” It is hard for us to fathom the depth of God’s love for us. There is so much in life that we cannot understand. But one thing is for sure…God does make all things new…even us!

I do not know much about Tuberculosis COPD, but I know my kids all developed asthma when we moved to a certain area for a job. They all became better and did not need inhaler medicine when we moved to better air quality. Many things can be cured with natural herbs. So that is my interest for now.

Wonderful pics. We didn’t have any color here in southeast Missouri. It was too dry. Fall and winter are my favorite times of the year. Thanks for sharing. Stay warm and God bless you.
