Be Encouraged

I thought I would share an original. It’s a song I wrote a long time ago and recorded with a friend in his studio. Thanks Lindz from Big Bison Studios.

I sit down to the piano and sing it when I need some encouragement. I hope it connects with you as well.

I think my song would be way different if I did not know God on a personal level. It’s been a relationship that works in real life. That’s my story.

Share with someone who needs encouragement.

Gary

ps. lease let me know if this music format does not work, I’m on a learning curve on posting music.

  1. Thanks Gary. I can’t play the song but I’m sure it’s good. May we all be encouraged this day. The Lord Jesus remains in charge and is ever faithful. All glory to Him. Blessings to you

  2. Gary, Wow, this dropped out of heaven into my heart. I so needed to β€œbe encouraged” today. Isn’t God amazing? And so is this song and the words, your voice and the accompaniment. Simply splendid and so very soothing. Okay, I gotta go now. πŸ™‹πŸ» I need to listen to it again. I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Sending huge and thanks. πŸ™β€οΈ

      1. Well, I was in a meeting this week where I actually said how much I used to love to sing. I sang everywhere and all the time. Went to New York to sing on Broadway. But things didn’t go at all according to plan. I was reminded that God uses everything and doesn’t waste a thing…Thank you for sharing your tremendous gift.

    1. You are right Deb, even when we think we did not attain where we wanted to go with our talents given, God has his plans and wastes nothing…in essence, we are not wasted in any way. hugs back

  3. Gary, this song is absolutely beautiful! It is so comforting to listen to this wonderful piece of music. You are glorifying God with this song. Thank you for sharing it. I may some time ask your permission to play it at an event. I don’t know when or where, but I just have this gut feeling it will be the perfect song at some point in the future. Your faith is an inspiration.

    1. Thank you Betty. Life has a lot of hard spots for many many people…It is my prayer that something I have done, said, prayed or sang would be an encouragement to someone beyond my little sphere of influence. Do share if the times comes.

  4. Oh! my Lord, Gary, what a powerful song of hope! “Even still today…” Yes our eternal loving God keeps on doing for His people. I listened through twice, and was swept away by your voice and faith in the words of the song. Thanks Gary God bless you!

  5. Wow! You’re an instrument in God’s hands with this song. Gary, the lyrics, music, and your voice are all soothing. Thank you for sharing it with us!

It reflects what Paul says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort. He comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any kind of affliction, through the comfort we ourselves receive from God” (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

    1. Thank you Dwight. A labor of love for God and respect and fear of the storms of life. I believe I had just dumped a canoe in high waves and was washed (more like bashed) into 30 foot rock cliffs in icy cold water. It took awhile to venture out in waves again.

  6. Very beautiful and full of truth. As I have been studying this week in preparation for preaching this Sunday, so many things remind me of the love the Savior. The title of the sermon is “God’s Amazing Love Changes Everything.” He can and does calm the heart.

    1. A great sermon title Wayne. God does allow our storms and sometimes it doesn’t seem loving from where we sit. We would do well to get over any trust issues and let him be God in our life.

  7. What an awesome, inspiring testimony in song Gary! Thank you for making my day in sharing it.
It’s one I’ll playback for assurance when life raging seas need the waters calmed by Him. I so look forward to singing it with you before Him in Glory someday brother. Be Blessed as you have blessed me.

  8. Even though you say you don’t share your music often, thank you for sharing this. I just prayed for peace over you and the family. I don’t know about your trials, and it’s none of my business, but I saw someone commented about facing trials.

    Blessings, friend.

    1. Thankyou for your prayers Stacy. What some call trials, others call life. We happen to be caregivers of a very intelligent daughter in a body that doesn’t work well. We see some tough roads ahead right now. We all love Jesus and know where the road is going…the right direction.

  9. Thank you Alicia. Yes, our only hope, especially when those storms are so much bigger than us.
I didn’t know if you saw where I posted the picture of the verse you sent me for the cabin yet??
I put it on “Gods ways are different”

    Only 79 Steps

I think I’ll change the header picture to the verse you sent me, now that I look at it.

  10. Sometimes it’s difficult to share what’s in our hearts because it makes us vulnerable to criticism and hurt. But your strong faith, and music that reflects that, has blessed you with an inner calm that is contagious. Thanks, Gary!

    1. You put your thumb on the “difficult” button Nancy. So true. I have come to grasp, in a living it out way, that the music and words that flow out of me, are a truthful representation of who I am and who I have become through God’s molding in my life’s context. I also have come through the crossroads of being Ok with myself, being on the growing side, today. Sharing that and being accepted is great and not being accepted is ok too. Both reactions have to do with the person reacting. It’s on them for better or worse. I’m praying for the better.
A wordy response I know Nancy, but something all writers, musicians and artists hopefully face. This is probably a good “sit around the campfire after a writers conference talk”

  11. I agree, you can’t control how others feel or what they believe about you, but as you mature, it’s easier to resign yourself to it. Sitting around a campfire with others with like interests and values sounds very appealing! God bless you and your family, Gary.

    1. I agree Matt. It would be cool. For the time and money it would cost to do it justice, someone would have to convince me it would be more than worth it. Oh to be in m y 20’s again and not pay attention to time and money.

  12. Gary, your musical expression is so pure and genuine, listening to it feels like sitting by the fire with you and you are speaking these kind words to us…… may the encouragement you send out come back to you 10fold!
GOD bless you my dear brother, and may HE carry you and your family now more than ever before πŸ«ΆπŸ™πŸ»

    1. The rainbow was ironically after a storm on a wilderness lake. Waves way bigger than our canoes could handle. Lot’s of amen emotion from behind the camera on that scene. What was Peter thinking to get out of the boat (ready to sink) in that storm??

    1. Thank You Alan.
This one seemed to be begging to share at this point in time. The message is timeless …yellowed pages and all. So many need that encouragement…to just see Jesus beyond the waves.

  13. Gary, I can’t stop crying. Your voice is so beautiful and carried an amazing message! I grew up singing around the piano and have been a gospel music fan my entire life. There are songs that move me. This song, your original, came at a time I needed it so much. I will sing it and remember, Even still today he calms the waters….around 4 minutes in I was very emotional. Jesus is not a fable of long ago! Amen, my friend! How can I download this song? God bless you, Gary!

    1. I guess I thought it could be downloaded off this site…Let me figure out how to get you the song Karla. I have it on a storage hard drive in MP3 form. How hard can it be? I should make a T-shirt that says “You tube technician”

      1. Thank you, Gary. I think I might be able to on my PC? In the morning, I’m going to try there. I follow you on YouTube. It’s it on there? Yes, there’s always a good T-shirt design idea! Lol. I’ve learned how to upload on YouTube to place here and short videos on the video block. Life is a constant learning curve! πŸ™πŸ»πŸ˜Š

  14. Gary, this touched my music loving heart and Jesus-needing mind in all the right places. Some musicians just sing their songs – but you – I felt praise and love and sorrow and joy and trust in your voice, words, and melody. Thank you for this beautiful tune to take with me to sleep tonight. God has blessed you with a wonderful gift. Thank you for sharing it.

    1. Thankyou for that encouragement Erika. I actually do not know how to respond but to thank the Lord who put this all together. I wrote the song after a period when the music in me dried up. I was in the Colorado mountains when I met a very successful singer song writer and his producer. We struck up a friendship and found out they live close to our oldest daughter. When visiting the Nashville area I spent a day with my new friend doing some recording and he made my rough recording into a demo quality worth sharing. I had forgot where I put the recording and found it the other day….God’s timing with a lot of happy coincidence??? No, not coincidence for many people judging by all the reactions and emails…”nothing but God”

      1. Mountains + mountain friends+music = God’s Masterpiece! God is always doing a new thing! What a connection to make. I’ve met wonderful people on the trails – and some not so wonderful as well – I always wonder how they can be in a foul mood (unless it is pouring rain on a high rocky trail!!) when surrounded by God’s splendor. Truly your moment was inspired. I love this creation story!

  15. I enjoyed this very much, Gary! I am struck by how your willingness to share from your own journey with Him, and the gift He has given you, blessed so many people with His presence and encouragement. It reminds me of the story of the loaves and fishes being multiplied when put in His hands. Thank you for being willing!

    1. The willingness to share with no expectations or strings attached, admittedly, has been a journey to get there Jennifer. Be it pictures for free download or songs that cost time and money to record well enough, so the recording is not a distraction from the message. I can only it back and marvel at what God does with the small things we give to him, knowing full well he gave us the talents in the first place. We cannot claim a thing as it’s all from him. For example, I saw this song was downloaded 42 times in Maylasia in one day. I don’t know of any followers of my blog in Maylasia. My response, aside from surprise, was to pray the message would be a part of hearts being touched by God…HIs ways are head shaking to us.

      1. Wow! That is incredibly wonderful! I join in with my agreement to that prayer, yes Lord Jesus, touch their hearts for Your Kingdom and glory!

Amen and amen, my brother. “What do we have that we have not been given?” May He continue to multiply the gifts we give back to Him for the saving of many lives!

    1. Thank You Anna, your medical diagnosis sounds very serious. I can pray from here and will.
I am so often needing reminders that God is 100% in charge and I – zero of my being in these times. To Trust in the Lord in all my ways no matter the storms out front and inside is what he asks.
Medical things are really tough. We are watching and helping our handicapped daughter walk through some deep valleys.

    1. Thank you for those kind words. That song has encouraged many people so I wanted to share it online as well…My friend with a studio took some time to record it and a couple others on good equipment. Sometimes the Lord pushes where we do not want to go. But he also enables us…it’s all him behind every aspect the music or other talents he puts in us.
