This spring some of the guys from COFA (Christian Outdoors Fellowship of America) called me and asked if I would put together a five day fishing camp in the fall. I have welts on my wrist from the amount of arm twisting it takes to get me to go fishing but I said yes. These are my elk hunting buddies so check out their hunt in Colorado when you click on their site.
The perfect place to use for large and small groups is Oak Hills Camp right on a nice fishing lake in the middle of many (over 40 nearby) lakes. we will catch walleye, northern pike, bass, crappies, and a few other species. I’m holding a nice “eater” size walleye caught in the fall when the leaves are turning and the fish go on feeding frenzies. Perfect time to bring a boat, a couple friends, fishing gear, and a camera.
You will meet Dwight and get lessons on filleting all the bones from a pike. Locals who know these lakes well will partner with fishing camp for tips, fishing spots, and stories. Guys who love to fish, Love God, and have big boats. A great camp on the lake, good food, and meeting some very fun, real life characters, adds up to a great adventure. Consider this your invite men (And yes you can bring a son if they can handle the boat time).
Enough of the advertisement. Here is the link to download a form and let us know you are serious about coming (click here).
Now for you guys who really don’t camp or fish much, let me give you a challenge as well. If you know a guy or group of guys that could benefit from being around some high quality guys (we don’t pretend to have our whole act together but we watch each others back!) bring them as a friend. Boat time is about rubbing off on each other in a good way.
The fishing is always good! Sometimes the catching is a bit tricky. The friends we make may change our life. We are going to challenge you to grow in your walk with God as well as get the biggest fish of your life!
Just in case you wonder if the walleye get big up here I will leave you with a couple of pictures. Same day, same boat, all released. I hope you get a chance to meet these guys!
